MeLCat - State of Michigan
MeLCat is a part of the Michigan eLibrary, or MeL,
which is a wonderful collection of online information resources
provided by the Library of Michigan. MeLCat contains information
about the collections of a growing number of libraries across Michigan.
Portage Lake District Library is a proud member in MeLCat.
People with a PLDL library card are able to look up materials in
MeLCat from libraries across the state and make an online request for
those materials to be delivered for pickup at PLDL in Houghton.
WorldCat - National/International
This huge catalog holds many millions of records for books,
audio/visuals, maps, etc.- just about any kind of item you might find
in a library, museum or other learning institution. WorldCat has
records from literally thousands of locations in the United States and
from hundreds of overseas locations.
Michigan Technological University - Houghton Michigan
The J. R. Van Pelt Library at Michigan Tech has a useful collection of materials covering
technology and the sciences, as well as many other
subjects. The fine collection of the MTU Archives and
Copper Country Historical Collections is an excellent resource for
historians and genealogists.
Finlandia University - Hancock, Michigan

Maki Library at Finlandia University has collections that consist of more than
50,000 items including, magazines, videos, compact discs, audiotapes,
slides, and audio-visual equipment. Areas of emphasis include Finnish/Finnish
American ethnic studies, religious studies, nursing, physical therapy,
social and behavioral sciences, education, business, art/design,
and literature.
The Voyager online catalog used by the Maki Library also contains
holdings of the libraries of Northern Michigan University, Lake
Superior State University, and Gogebic Community College.
